Position Overview
The HSE Assistant supports the implementation of the company’s Health, Safety, and
Environmental (HSE) systems across all project sites. Reporting to the WHS &
Environment Manager, this role assists in maintaining safety records, coordinating site
inspections, collecting environmental data, and helping ensure compliance with safety
and environmental standards. The HSE Assistant plays a critical support role in
promoting a strong safety culture, maintaining documentation, and assisting with daily
safety and environmental operations on-site and in the office.
Key Responsibilities
The HSE Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate and organised health,
safety, and environmental documentation. This includes managing inductions, toolbox
talks, training records, incident registers, and other compliance-related materials,
ensuring all records are up to date and easily accessible.
They assist in conducting and documenting site inspections and observations, helping
to identify hazards, track non-compliances, and follow up on corrective actions. By
supporting the WHS & Environment Manager, the HSE Coordinator contributes to
monitoring safety performance and identifying trends across projects.
The role also involves coordinating site inductions and supporting toolbox talks,
ensuring all personnel are trained, competent, and compliant with company and
regulatory requirements.
In the event of incidents, the HSE Coordinator provides essential support by
documenting reports, gathering evidence, and helping to track corrective actions
through to resolution.
Environmental monitoring forms another key aspect of the role, including assisting with
dust, noise, and waste checks, recording environmental data, and maintaining registers
for spills, waste, and materials usage.
Overall, the HSE Coordinator supports the business in promoting a safe, compliant, and
environmentally responsible workplace, while assisting teams and building their own
knowledge of safety practices and site risks.
